Dear Music Man Families,

Sense of Parent Meeting
Welcome!
Introduction of Cagle (Director), Jesse (Choreographer), Rene (Assistant Director/Administrator)
Challenges & Fun Ahead:
The script and music provided by the liscensing company is VERY Challenging.
-We will make some adjustments and edits to make it more manageable and fun.
-Students must bring their script bound in the folder or your own binder every week so they can mark any edits.
-As soon as casting is complete all families need to start working with their children at home.
Rhythm's and Tempos are difficult but they can do it with practice!
-Tongue Twisters will be sent to assist in Enunciation & need to be practiced.
-The original keys from the Broadway show are being used, we can make some adjustments in arrangements, but they will primarily remain as on the cd.
Schedule:
- We plan to provide you a schedule of what will be taught each week.
- Students should be familiar with the scene or song before they arrive.
- It's urgent you list any conflicts on the contract and notify Rene if a student will be absent due to illness.
- Parents will need to stay on top of when material is due and make sure students are prepared so that we don't get behind.
3. Behavior.
We expect kids to have fun.  Their energy and exuberance is fantastic.
However, we also expect them to focus and not be disruptive when they are being taught.
Parents will be called in to assist if your child is finding this rule of thumb challenging.

AUDITIONS
- We do not need to hear or read every child for every role they are being considered for.
- We do not expect to have auditions completed until after the third class.
- The cast lists will be posted on the blog.
- Attached is a note to parents about casting.  Please review

 PREPARATION FOR NEXT WEEK
1. Every student will prepare 76 Trombones Measure 185-208.
We taught it and sang it many times at the first class, it must be memorized.
Everyone will dance and sing it in small groups.
Some students will sing it as their solo singing audition.
2. Some students have been assigned a portion of a second song.  See attach audition list.
We prefer that it's memorized.

Do not worry if your child is not assigned a second song.
76 Trombones can give us a very good indication of range and timing..

3. A list of sections from the script are provided which will be used for the acting auditions.  See below.
Each student has been given one or two characters we may read then for. They should be familiar with those scenes.  Those students that are beginning readers we will assist.
The lists of what each student should prepare to sing and which roles from the script they should be familiar with are attached.  This information can also be found on the Blog for each group.
